Steven C Miller will direct Anchor Bay's series reboot, which is simply titled Silent Night, Variety reports.
Principal photography on the project is slated to begin next month for a holiday season release. The film will be based on a screenplay penned by executive producer Jayson Rothwell.
Silent Night, Deadly Night followed a local police department's search for a killer Santa Claus terrorising a small town. McDowell will play the sheriff of the force in the remake.
