'Buffy' star Marsters joins Swank movie

Marsters, famed for his performance as vampire Spike in the cult show, will be joined by Gerard Butler for the adaptation of Cecelia Ahern's best selling novel. The story revolves around a list of tasks given to a young widow by her deceased husband. Marsters will play the husband's best friend.
Richard LaGravenese, who was Oscar nominated for his The Fisher King screenplay, has been signed up to direct.
Since Angel concluded in 2004, Marsters has had a recurring role in Smallville, in addition to pursuing a solo singing career.
