Actor Wentworth Miller wrote the original screenplay, reports ComingSoon.net.
The movie is a dramatic thriller about a woman who moves with her husband and son to a rambling country house, only to discover that their new home has its own mysterious and terrible past.
A director is currently being sought for the project.
Miller is best known as the star of television series Prison Break.
He also wrote the psychological horror Stoker, which is due for release this year with Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska attached to star.
Inspired by Bram Stoker's Dracula, the non-vampire film centres around a strange uncle that moves in with a girl and her emotional unstable mother after the death of her father.
