Speaking on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the singer admitted that the film was initially meant to be kept relatively secret.
She said: "Originally nobody was supposed to know about Spring Breakers. It's an independent movie, and we all went down to Florida. We were supposed to keep it a closed set, but it just got kind of out of hand with everything. It's a different kind of movie."
The indie drama, which also stars James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson Glee's Heather Morris, is currently in post-production.
Gomez went on to discuss Franco's role, saying: "He's got that charismatic thing about him that all the characters are kind of drawn to him, and my character's the one that is less attracted to him, but he kind of feeds on that. He kind of likes that."
