'The Avengers' star Scarlett Johansson: Career in pictures

After supporting roles in Home Alone 3 and The Horse Whisperer, Scarlett Johansson got her big break in Lost in Translation playing a newlywed adrift in Tokyo who befriends fellow lost soul Bill Murray.

Since then, the New York-born actress hasn't looked back, sharing the screen with the likes of Colin Firth, Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman and Natalie Portman.

Johansson reprises her role as Iron Man 2 heroine Black Widow this week for The Avengers, in which she teams up with Marvel heroes Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).
