Chris Pine on 'Star Trek 2': "It's relentless"

Chris Pine has spoken about the forthcoming Star Trek 2.

The actor, who reprises his role as Captain Kirk in the sequel, described its tone as "relentless".

"Of course I'm gonna tell you I think it's gonna be better," he joked to Access Hollywood.

"You pick up the characters from where they left off, and the development of the characters - I think - is just as exciting as the first one.

"And it's relentless. I think that's the best adjective I can use... It's just as action-packed as the first."

Pine confirmed that shooting is almost complete on the as-yet-untitled second film, which is due for release next summer.

Along with Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Simon Pegg will also reprise their roles, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve joining the cast.

Director JJ Abrams recently confirmed that the film will be post-converted into 3D.
