The director described Snow White (Kristen Stewart) as "a burning fire", saying that she has the capacity to heal people from the devastation of the Evil Queen's (Charlize Theron) rule.
"She's a burning fire that touches the tinder of the people around her," Sanders told the Los Angeles Times.
"They see something in her that can make them whole again," he continued. "She's the beating heart of life."
He went on to say that he hopes the audience will appreciate the emotional depth of the film.
"I think it's possible to make a blockbuster that is actually emotional," Sanders said. "They don't need to be mutually exclusive."
Stewart recently confessed that while she loves everything about acting, she has little patience for the celebrity aspect of the profession.
