Adulthood and Doctor Who's Clarke, who co-wrote and stars in Fast Girls as coach Tommy, revealed that he took inspiration from a Sylvester Stallone sporting classic for his latest film.
"You kind of want [a good sports movie to be] Rocky with whatever sport you have," he said. "If you made a Tiger Woods movie, you'd want Rocky with golf. I think that's what we're trying to do here - everything seems to be going good, then it doesn't, then it goes good again at the end!"

Being Human star Lenora Crichlow said of her role: "I play Shania Andrews, who is the underdog of the story. You watch Shania make her way into the GB squad and try her luck at being part of the GB relay team."
"You always need a training montage," Crichlow said. "A lot of Evian spray for a good sweat face. You've got to practice your sweat face."
Fast Girls hits UK cinemas on June 15, six weeks before the London 2012 Olympics begin.
"We're releasing just before the Olympics, and I think that was always the idea - to have a feel-good film where Britain do really well," Clarke commented.
