Amy Poehler has expressed hopes that the proposed Wet Hot American Summer prequel will be produced.

Director David Wain has said that he would love to reunite Poehler, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Showalter and the rest of Wet Hot American Summer's all-star cast for a movie set before the 2001 cult classic.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Poehler said she would love to star in the proposed prequel.

"I think the Wet Hot reunion - whenever they can do it, I'm sure we will all be there. That was an amazing experience to be a part of," she commented.

The Parks and Recreation actress added: "I think everybody would do anything they could to make sure they could be involved in the second one. I'm there."

Elizabeth Banks praised the originality of Wet Hot American Summer last year and described the filming as a "huge party".

"We'd be standing around in sweat shirts and overcoats because it was so cold, drinking s**tty beers and they would be doing bits. Non-stop bits," Banks recalled. "It was like being at your own private, amazing stand-up comedy show."
