The French actress, who plays Sévérine in the 23rd James Bond instalment, said that she admired how Craig had reinvented the iconic 007 role.
"He's a completely great human being and so funny," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
"We had a lot of fun, which is great because then you can feel totally free and relaxed once you have to play. He's always [playing] the clown, you have fun before takes."
Asked if she shares any romantic scenes with Craig, she replied: "I really hope so. It would be a shame if not."
Marlohe added that her Bond girl is more ambiguous than previous franchise characters.
"She is not obvious. Maybe before there could have been a good Bond Girl or bad Bond Girl. There is some darkness and light," she explained.
Marlohe will introduce the Skyfall trailer at the Cannes Film Festival this evening. The teaser will screen before a Cinema de la Plage showing of From Russia with Love.
