Hoffman and Keener, who co-starred in Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche, New York, join Christopher Walken in the film.

A Late Quartet is set for an autumn release in the US, while no UK release date has yet been set.

The trailer for Hoffman's third collaboration with Paul Thomas Anderson, The Master, was released earlier this week.

Hoffman was recently cast in Anton Corbijn's spy thriller A Most Wanted Man.
