The actress, who plays a sexy woman with a taste for men on death row, insisted that she doesn't care that the film divided critics at the Cannes Film Festival.
"It shocked people," Kidman told Deadline. "Yes, it's very polarising but that's cool by me.
"That's the sort of stuff I do and I am used to that," she explained. "People love it or hate it. But that's me as an actor. I like that high-wire stuff because I would rather do that than be bland."
Kidman previously described her role in the film as "raw" and "dangerous".
The 44-year-old recently revealed that she won her Paperboy role by sending "provocative" photos to director Lee Daniels.
