Zac Efron 'couldn't stop smiling during Paperboy urination scene'

By
Lee Daniels has said that Zac Efron found it hard to keep a straight face while shooting the urination scene in The Paperboy.

The director revealed that he prefers to shoot the more difficult scenes in his movies first, explaining that he filmed the notorious scene in which Nicole Kidman pees on Efron to relieve the pain of a jellyfish sting on the third day of shooting.

"The third day of shooting was the p*ss scene," Daniels told GQ.

"If you could have watched Zac's face... He's supposed to be passed out and [while Kidman is urinating] he's just got this smile on his face.

"I'm like, 'Zac, pretend like you're dead!' And he's just got this crazy smile on his face. The whole thing's crazy."

Daniels admitted that he got cold feet after shooting the scene, revealing that he almost cut it from the film before Kidman convinced him otherwise.

"Right before I sent it off to Cannes, I called Nicole at three in the morning," he explained.

"I said, 'Nicole, I can't do it, I've gone too far. I can't put that scene in the movie'. She said, 'Lee, you made me pee on Zac Efron, if you don't put that in the movie, you're out of your freakin' mind. I did it! I did it!'"

Kidman has described the film as "shocking", adding that her role as a sexy woman with a taste for men on death row is "raw" and "dangerous".
