"I'm very excited about it; I'm f**king dying!" said Theron. "It's been three years; it's time to skin this cat already!"
Mad Max: Fury Road, the fourth entry in the series, was originally going to shoot in Broken Hill, Australia until a flood engulfed the area and left it covered with flowers and greenery.
"It was a huge problem," Theron explained. "The desert never recovered. Well, it did recover in a beautiful way, just not the way we needed!"
Tom Hardy will play protagonist Max Rockatansky in the upcoming sequel, a role made famous by Mel Gibson in the previous instalments. Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Isabella Kravitz, and Adelaide Clemens will feature among the supporting cast.
Mad Max: Fury Road is yet to be assigned a release date.
