Musicians picketed outside Marvel Studios this morning (June 1), it has been reported.

Members of the American Federation of Musicians gathered outside the studio to protest the use of foreign composers on the film The Avengers, according to Deadline.

"The Avengers was filmed in New Mexico and Ohio, with $30 million in US tax rebates," a pamphlet from the strike read. "But the music was scored in Europe, hiring foreign musicians under the table and on the cheap, robbing US musicians of their jobs.

"We don't think that's fair," the pamphlet continues. "We ask this of Disney CEO Bob Iger and Marvel head Kevin Feige: How many billions must your companies earn before Marvel will score its film music here at home?"

In January, The Hunger Games drew similar protests from the AFM due to its use of non-union conductors on its score.

It was reported earlier today that The Avengers will be shown in space thanks to an ongoing relationship between Marvel Studios' parent company Disney and NASA.
