The Elizabeth Shaw actress admitted that she's heard nothing solid about a sequel, but suggested that the film's open ending leaves the option for a follow-up.
"Definitely, we have been talking about it a lot and dreaming about it," Rapace said to Cinema Blend.
She continued: "I have real dreams about what happened in the events after Prometheus. I would absolutely love to go back with him into this world."
Her comments come as Prometheus writer Damon Lindelof stressed that a sequel is far from a foregone conclusion.
Rapace also praised Prometheus director Ridley Scott's approach to working with his actors.
"He loves actors. I remember that I said to him, 'I don't want to be this perfect action heroine. I don't want make-up. I don't want to look beautiful and sexy and all of those stupid things. I want it to be real. And if it happens to be beautiful in that crazy, f**ked up situation, fine'," she recalled.
"I think that's the problem with many big action movies. The women get caught up trying to look good, to be beautiful and sexy. That becomes their main purpose. For me, that becomes boring and hollow. And he loved that! He was like, 'No, absolutely not, no make-up, no mascara, more sweat!' And I love him for that."
Scott recently revealed that he only returned to the sci-fi genre because he feels Prometheus is a truly original film.
Prometheus is now playing in UK cinemas as well as in the US.
