Shooting began on Marcus Nispel's horror movie last week, with the actress in the lead role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film centres around a group of teenagers who accidentally free an evil spirit, which begins to possess them one by one.
Curran is best known for her role as Lucy in TNT's television show Men of a Certain Age.
She also appeared in horror film The Uninvited and recently completed shooting on Captured.
The film will also star Gage Golightly (Teen Wolf) and Kelly Blatz (Prom Night), with Insidious's Steven Schneider as one of the producers.
Nispel previously directed Conan the Barbarian and remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday 13th, with a Hack/Slash adaptation on the horizon.
