Ridley Scott: 'Prometheus DVD, Blu-ray has 30 mins of deleted scenes'

By
Ridley Scott has revealed that the Prometheus DVD will feature 30 minutes of deleted scenes.

Speaking to Collider, the filmmaker confirmed that the home release will include a feature that allows viewers to watch scenes that were left on the cutting-room floor.

Watch the latest trailer for 'Prometheus', which debuted exclusively during Channel 4's Homeland on April 29, 2012.

"[The Prometheus theatrical cut] is fundamentally the director's cut," he said. "But there will be half an hour of stuff on the menu because people are so into films - how they're made, how they're set up, and the rejections in it. That's why it's fascinating. So this will all go on to the menu."

Scott admitted that he is unlikely to include a deleted fight scene between Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw and an Engineer because it "diminished" the power of the alien.

"The Engineer fight scene was pretty good. It will definitely go on the menu. It won't go on the long version," he said. "The problem about it is, while she gives as good as she gets with an axe, he's so big, for him to be clouted with a conventional weapon somehow diminished him.

"It's subtle. It's drama. I didn't want to diminish him by having this person who has a weapon to be able to back him off."
