Greer will play gym teacher Miss Desjardin and Doubleday is set to play mean girl Chris Hargensen, reports Deadline.
Greer's character comforts Carrie White (Chloe Moretz) when she menstruates and doesn't understand why on account of her mother's Christian fundamentalist values, while Doubleday's character is responsible for the famous prom scene where she and her boyfriend work together to dump a bucket of pig's blood on Carrie.
Greer and Doubleday will join Game Change star Julianne Moore as Carrie's mother and Gabriella Wilde as the popular girl Sue Snell.
Based on Stephen King's novel of the same name, Carrie was originally released in 1976, starring Sissy Spacek as Carrie and Piper Laurie as her mother.
Moretz compared the remake to Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, saying that director Kimberly Peirce's version will be "darker and much more psychological".
