Jessica Chastain still hopeful of Marvel role

Jessica Chastain has admitted that she would like to appear in a future Marvel Studios film, despite dropping out of Iron Man 3.

The Help actress was to play a scientist in the Shane Black-helmed sequel, but left the project due to scheduling conflicts.

However, Chastain has since told Total Film that she is hoping another opportunity to join Marvel's cinematic universe presents itself in the future.

"It's always a good problem to have because it means you have options. It's not really a problem, but it was just impossible, schedule-wise. So I was sad," she said.

"I met Shane Black earlier and I think he's going to make an amazing film. And of course I went to see Avengers Assemble earlier and I loved it. I hope to be in a Marvel film."

Robert Downey, Jr will reprise his role as Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, alongside fellow returning cast members Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau.

Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale and Sir Ben Kingsley are newcomers to the series.

Iron Man 3 arrives in cinemas on May 3, 2013.
