Anne Hathaway on 'Les Misérables' short hairstyle: 'I'm so pleased'

By
Anne Hathaway has revealed that she liked the short hairstyle she adopted for Les Misérables.

The actress told Vulture that she had no reservations about her close-cropped hairdo as Fantine in Tom Hooper's movie version of the stage classic.

Anne Hathaway, Les Miserables still

"I did it for a film, so it really wasn't about me and my security. I'm just so pleased with how I look, so I now quite like having short hair," Hathaway beamed.

She went on to admit she was incredibly nervous to sing Les Misérables's "iconic" song 'I Dreamed A Dream', which has been covered in the past by Elaine Paige and Susan Boyle.

"That's actually the thing we talked about when I first came in to film. I apparently looked like I was ready to face the guillotines," she joked.

"They just kept telling me and the cast to ignore the iconic nature of Les Mis and of the song. I had to sing it as if it had never been sung or heard before."

Hathaway's co-star Samantha Barks recently described Hooper's Les Misérables as "epic", saying: "[It is] such an amazing and lovely cast, such an epic musical, so excited to see the finished product!! What an experience."

Les Misérables is scheduled for release on December 14 in the US and January 11 in the UK.
