It follows the intertwining stories of a group of Americans and Italians trying to find love in Rome.
According to Deadline, the film managed to gross $379,371 on just five US screens, averaging $75,874 per theatre.
This makes To Rome with Love the second best per-theater-average so far this year, the first being Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom.
The film is also the second biggest opening of any movie in Allen's career.
Last year's Midnight in Paris remains the director's most successful film, with over $56 million (£36m) in earnings.
