Over the weekend, reports emerged that the Alice in Wonderland actress was in contention for the role of Johanna Mason, a rival tribute for Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen.
However, Wasikowska's reps have shot down the rumours, saying that the actress was never approached for the role and that she has no time to star in the film, which is due to begin shooting later this year.
Model Zoe Aggeliki was also reported to be in the running for Johanna. Lionsgate, the studio behind the highly-anticipated sequel, has yet to confirm the claims.
Elsewhere, there has been much speculation over who will take on the role of Finnick Odair, the handsome tribute from District 4. In late May, Robert Pattinson was forced to dispel rumours that he would be taking on the part.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in cinemas on November 22, 2013.
