'Snow White and the Huntsman' beats 'Brave' at Australian box office

Snow White and the Huntsman has beaten Brave to the Australian box office number one spot.

The Kristen Stewart film landed at the top of the chart with takings of $6.2 million, outmuscling Pixar's fellow new release, which grossed $2.5m.

After two weeks at the summit, Sir Ridley Scott's Prometheus is down to three, while That's My Boy, Rock of Ages, Men in Black 3, What to Expect When You're Expecting and The Avengers all slip two places from last week's tally.

A Royal Affair starring Mads Mikkelsen and Alicia Vikander is the only other new entry, debuting at nine with $165,000, just ahead of Michelle Williams's Take This Waltz at ten.
