Actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen will star as the Queen frontman in the upcoming film Mercury, written by Frost/Nixon scribe Peter Morgan.
Earlier reports claimed that Perry was in talks to play Mary Austin, a close friend of Mercury.
However the 'I Kissed a Girl' singer has told E! that while she would love to take on the role, she has not been approached to star in the film.
"There's something about the internet that's sort of funny - it's that nothing is true on there," Perry revealed. "There's been no formal offer. Although I do like the association and I like the company because I think Sacha Baron Cohen is hilarious."
Perry has taken on acting roles before as a guest on How I Met Your Mother and the voice of Smurfette in the live-action movie The Smurfs.
She's gearing up for the release of her behind-the-scenes documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me.
