"I grew up, as a kid, I read comic books, and I watched every single comic book movie that ever... You know, I was a big sci-fi fan, I was just that kid. I'm a fanboy at heart. So, yeah, that is on my radar," he told Ain't It Cool News when asked about the possibility of auditioning for the role of Batman.

Batman will next appear on cinemas next month in The Dark Knight Rises, director Christopher Nolan's third and final film about the Caped Crusader. Warner previously confirmed that the series will be overhauled after the trilogy has wrapped up.

Manganiello missed out on the role of Superman to Henry Cavill, who will play the Last Son of Krypton in Snyder's 2013 reboot.

The actor recently opened up about his role in Magic Mike, admitting that his True Blood co-stars made fun of his performance.
