The new cut of Superman II has been praised by Margot Kidder, who portrayed Lois Lane in the 1980 film.
"I think this is such a better version of Superman II," Kidder told Home Media Retailing Magazine about original director Richard Donner's reworked film - due to be released on DVD later this month.
Donner was removed from the film by the producers having shot a substantial amount and was replaced by Richard Lester. Many sequences were subsequently rewritten and reshot.
IMDB quote Kidder as stating that both her and lead actor Christopher Reeve "were really pissed off" by the decision. The new Donner cut is reported to contain approximately 15 minutes of previously excised footage featuring the late Marlon Brando as Superman's father Jor-El.
