The Batman director was accompanied by cast from the films in a ceremony outside the iconic Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Anne Hathaway, who plays Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, the final instalment of Nolan's trilogy, was joined by co-stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Joseph Gordon-Levitt at the ceremony.
Nolan joins 211 other Hollywood greats who have had their hand and footprints immortalised in concrete on the Boulevard, including Michael Jackson, Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis and Mickey Rourke.
The British-born director's wife recently confirmed that The Dark Knight Rises will be Nolan's final Batman film, claiming that he would never return to the franchise.
The Dark Knight Rises opens in cinemas worldwide on July 20.
