'Dredd': Karl Urban deals out judgement in latest clip - watch

Dredd has released promotional footage highlighting the film's 3D effects and gore content.

Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby star in the clip as Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson respectively, gunning down criminals during a bloody slow-motion sequence.



The action-thriller, directed by Pete Travis, is based on the classic 2000 AD comic book character Judge Dredd. It is the second time the property has been adapted for cinema, following 1995's Sylvester Stallone-fronted Judge Dredd.

Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey will star as the Dredd villain, portraying a prostitute-turned-gangster with aspirations to take over Mega-City One.

Alex Garland, who penned the screenplay for the movie and oversaw its development, has expressed interest in developing the project into a trilogy.

The first trailer for Dredd premiered last month, along with new pictures and a first poster.

Dredd is released in cinemas on September 7.
