Deadline reports that the Thor actor has met with Spielberg about a starring role in the thriller, based on the Daniel H Wilson novel about a post-apocalyptic world run by robots.

Hemsworth has enjoyed new success with recent roles in The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman.
The Australian actor has also signed on to star in the upcoming dramatic thriller In the Heart of the Sea later this year.
No official deal has been made, though Spielberg is reportedly keen for Hemsworth to headline the movie.
Robopocalypse is due for release worldwide on April 25, 2014.
