Warner Bros officially moves 'Gangster Squad' release to January 2013

By
Warner Bros has officially moved the release date of its upcoming crime drama Gangster Squad to January 2013.

Initial reports revealed that executives were keen to postpone the movie's original September 7 release due to the recent Aurora cinema shootings, eyeing a January release.

Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin hunt down the mob in period crime thriller 'Gangster Squad'.

The film, which stars Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, and Ryan Gosling as detectives in 1940s Los Angeles, contains a scene in which several men shoot into the audience of a cinema.

Trailers for the film ahead of The Dark Knight Rises were recently pulled out of sensitivity to the victims and their families.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filmmakers are now planning to film reshoots in order to replace the scene, deemed too reminiscent of the recent shooting in Colorado which resulted in the death of twelve people.

Gangster Squad will now be released in cinemas on January 11, 2013.
