Russell Brand is in talks to star in the upcoming comedy Pierre Pierre.

The British comedian would play a rude French nihilist in the project if he were to agree a deal, reports Variety.

Pierre Pierre will be a raunchy comedy from Borat and The Dictator director Larry Charles.

The story follows Brand's character who transports a stolen painting from Paris to London. During his trip he bumps into a variety of characters, including a French police inspector, a serial killer called Pigeonsh*t and his own mother who runs a brothel.

Escape Artists members Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will produce the film, along with Brian Sher of Category 5.

Jim Carrey and Jason Reitman were previously linked to star and direct the project before plans fell through.

The Brand X presenter recently deemed his recent community service order "an honour".
