Jennifer Ehle has entered into talks for RoboCop.

The actress is in line for the role of a character called Liz Kline in the remake of the 1980s sci-fi movie, reports Deadline.

The film stars Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, a cop and family man who is transformed into a cyborg after being critically injured in the line of duty.

Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Laurie, Jackie Earle Haley and Jay Baruchel have also been cast in Jose Padilha's film.

The two-time Tony winner was last seen in The King's Speech and Steven Soderbergh's Contagion.

Ehle will next appear in Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, which tells the story of the military team who hunted and killed Osama Bin Laden.

The actress is best known as Elizabeth Bennet in the BBC's 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice.
