The recently divorced actress and singer is reportedly delighted with her part in the film, which is apparently inspired by the 1980s film Working Girl starring Sigourney Weaver.
Simpson told Empire, "It's definitely the theme of Working Girl. This small-town girl moving to New York City and rising up into this great career as a businesswomen...But it's definitely not a remake."
She added: "I've never had the leading role and with this one it's really going to be nice to just dive in and kinda wrap my arms around it."
