John Travolta receiving Zurich Film Festival career award

John Travolta is to be given the Zurich Film Festival's Golden Eye career achievement award.

The Savages actor will be honoured for his five decades of contributions to the motion picture industry at the September event.

Zurich Film Festival director Karl Spoerri said the organisation is looking forward to "bestow[ing] him with this honour and celebrat[ing] his amazing career".

Travolta and director Oliver Stone's latest movie Savages will also be screened for attendees.

The Zurich Film Festival will run from September 20 through to September 30.

Travolta has earned many awards throughout his career, including a Golden Globe for Get Shorty and two MTV Movie Awards.
