The Beverly Hills Cop movie franchise will be revived according to reports, with Eddie Murphy reprising the role of detective Axel Foley for a fourth time.
Variety magazine claims that Paramount studio is in pre-production on the project and has hired Constantine producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to work with Eddie Murphy on the action-comedy.
"Axel Foley is one of the great action-comedy characters, a character that Eddie loves. I'm lucky enough to help bring it back," di Bonaventura told Variety. "This genre is missing from the landscape."
The previous instalment - Beverly Hills Cop III - was released in 1994 and disappointed at both the box office and with critics.
