Matthew McConaughey shows off dramatic weight loss on film set - pics

Matthew McConaughey was looking drawn and emaciated on the set of Martin Scorsese's new film The Wolf of Wall Street in New York this week.



The 42-year-old father-of-two stars alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and The Artist's Academy Award-winner Jean Dujardin in the movie based on the memoir of stockbroker Jordan Belfort, who was sent to jail for manipulating the stock market and running a boiler room.



But it's for his role in forthcoming film The Dallas Buyer's Club - as Texan electrician Ron Woodroof, who develops AIDS through drug abuse in the late '80s - that he's had to shed the weight.



Speaking about the tough part and severe dieting he's had to endure, McConaughey, married to model Camila Alves, recently told chat show host Larry King: "I'm playing a guy who was sick and would have loved to have been healthier but wasn't.

"For me, it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing. I'll get down to the weight I need to get to. I'm on my way, and it's what I need to do for the job."

Both films are set for release in 2013.
