Daniel Craig has spoken about portraying James Bond.

The actor admitted to Empire that he is "single-minded" while filming his appearances as Bond, and that the role requires a huge amount of energy and focus.

"When I'm doing the movie I'm totally single-minded," Craig said. "I keep my energy levels as high as I can all the time. I want to inspire, and be inspired.

"And I'm lucky enough to work with some incredible people with vast experience. I was standing on top of a train in Turkey with this crew of people, I looked around and I thought, 'You know, this is the best place to be for an actor'.

"So I kind of give it all I've got, and then collapse for a while!"

The full interview appears in this month's Empire magazine, on sale now (Thursday).

Skyfall, Daniel Craig

Roger Moore recently described Craig as the best James Bond.

George Lazenby, on the other hand, recently stated that Craig's incarnation of Bond doesn't have a heart.

The upcoming 23rd Bond film Skyfall marks Craig's third outing as 007, and will co-star Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe.

Sam Mendes is directing Skyfall, and a recent behind-the-scenes featurette saw Mendes and Craig discussing the film's focus on the city of London.

Skyfall will be released on October 26 in the UK, and November 9 in the US. Watch a trailer below:
