George Clooney has bought the rights to John Grisham novel The Innocent Man for an upcoming film.

The Innocent Man is the first non-fiction book published by the best-selling author and tells the story of a former baseball player wrongly convicted of rape and murder.

The film will be produced by Clooney's production company Smoke House, although it is not yet known whether he will be directing or starring in it.

George Clooney, 45, is currently promoting his new film, The Good German, a black-and-white spy thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh.
