The Tony Award-winning actor will play the role of Beetee in the upcoming second instalment of the Suzanne Collins series.
Beetee comes from District 3 in the original book, and is nicknamed 'Volts' for his electronic skills.
He joins fellow new cast members Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone and Sam Claflin, among others, for the Francis Lawrence-directed film.
Wright has previously starred in the likes of Source Code and Casino Royale. He will next be seen in Broken City with Russell Crowe and Mark Wahlberg.
Catching Fire will be released on November 22, 2013.
