Kate Winslet's Titanic screen test has surfaced online.

Winslet filmed three tests for director James Cameron, who praised his star for being able to carry his record-breaking epic.

"Kate told me how much she really loved the role and believed she could do it, believed in herself," he said. "She sent me a rose with a note that basically said, 'I'm ready'. A 19-year-old girl that's going to carry a film of that scale on her shoulders, it's a huge responsibility."

Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey and Gwyneth Paltrow were reportedly in the running to play Jack and Rose before Cameron cast Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Winslet's screen test is included in the extra features of the Titanic 3D Blu-ray, which is released today (September 10).
