The actor - who played Loki in The Avengers - admitted that he could never keep track of all the events in Marvel films like Whedon did.
"I have to take my hat off to Joss Whedon here, there's so much details. There's just so much in there. And Joss is such an extraordinary stickler, rightly, for details, you know," Hiddleston said, reports Flicks and Bits.
Hiddleston continued: "You can't just create action for actions sake, it's like, 'Why? Why this explosion, why this fight? Why are we doing it here?' There's so much depth in this film that I think if you watch it again and again and again, you will see various things about.
"You will definitely see little nods to previous films, that you may have missed the first time watching The Avengers. References to Iron Man, references to Thor, references to Captain America: The First Avenger. And clues to what might come after in the future."
Hiddleston previously described his role of the villainous Loki as "exhausting", explaining that it was tough to conjure the character's immense hatred.
Loki will next appear in Thor: The Dark World, opening November 8, 2013 in the US and the UK.
