The Dark Knight Rises will be released on Blu-ray and through digital download in December, Warner Bros has announced.

The home media release date for Christopher Nolan's blockbuster surfaced over on the studio's YouTube page, where the previously released theatrical trailer has just been re-posted.

Special features for the Blu-ray edition are yet to be announced, but it has been confirmed that it will be released in the format as a "combo pack".

Reports of a director's cut of the 165 minutes-long movie recently emerged, only to be refuted shortly afterwards by studio insiders. Nolan has never previously included deleted scenes on his home movie releases.

The concluding chapter in the filmmaker's Batman trilogy recently passed $600 million (£370 million) in overseas takings.

The Dark Knight Rises will be available on Blu-ray and through digital download on December 3 in the UK and US.
