Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine, Channing Tatum and Max Greenfield are rumoured to be in the running for the coveted role, but Dae Kim suggested that Holloway is "perfect" to portray seductive businessman Christian Grey.
"I capital L-O-V-E that idea," the Hawaii Five-O actor declared to E! News. "I think Josh would be perfect for it. He's got that combination of men want to be him and women want to be with him."
Dae Kim went on to say: "I haven't read the book, but every woman I know has told me about it. It seems like he needs to be someone who has a little bit of authority, a little bit of mystery, and a little bit of seasoning to him. And I feel like that is Josh."
Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James was recently quizzed on who her dream cast for the film adaptation would be, but she chose to remain coy.
"It gets messy… You might end up with somebody else [than I suggested]," James said of her reasoning for staying tight-lipped.
The erotic novel has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.
