The firm's executive vice president Victoria Alonso has promised fans that the third instalment will be an improvement on the lukewarmly received Iron Man 2.
"This is a franchise I love - it's my baby. It's going to be a better film than the others and I'm working every day to make sure I do right by the fans who are looking forward to seeing it in May 2013," she told NBC.
"To bring superheroes to life is a constant challenge, and one that I'm honoured to have.
"The best visual effect is the one you don't see but moves the story. We don't try to define the story with special effects. Iron Man has to fly from point A to point B, and it's my job to make sure he does that in the coolest way possible."
Iron Man 3 sees Robert Downey Jr reprise his role as Tony Stark, alongside fellow returning cast members Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau.
Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale and Sir Ben Kingsley are newcomers to the series.
Iron Man 3 resumes filming in south Florida early next month after production was halted due to a minor injury Downey sustained on set.
