Code Name Sasha centres on a single mother who is given the chance to leave her life of crime behind, after the FBI ask her to go undercover inside a gun-running organisation.

The other project under consideration, Last Witness, would see Portman play a psychologist treating an amnesiac who survived a bombing.

It was also reported last week that Portman was up for the role of Jackie Kennedy in a new drama focusing on the aftermath of John F Kennedy's assassination.

Portman will next be seen in Terrence Malick's upcoming romantic drama Knight of Cups, opposite Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, and will appear in another untitled project for the helmer, which is currently filming.

She will reprise her role as Jane Foster in upcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World, and is currently preparing to shoot Lynne Ramsay's Western Jane Got a Gun, opposite Michael Fassbender.
