Jack Black: 'School of Rock sequel isn't likely'

By
Jack Black has said that a School of Rock sequel likely will not be produced.

The actor initially confirmed that work on School of Rock 2 had commenced in 2008, but there have been few updates on the movie since that time.

Speaking to Page Six, Black was quizzed on whether filming on the project will begin soon.

"I wish," Black responded, adding: "I tried really hard to get all the pieces together."

Black went on to explain that he and School of Rock director Richard Linklater didn't share the same vision for a sequel.

"I wouldn't want to do it without the original writer and director, and we never all got together and saw eye-to-eye on what the script would be," he said. "It was not meant to be, unfortunately. But never say never."

School of Rock made more than $130 million at the worldwide box office in 2003.

Black received a Golden Globe nomination for 'Best Actor - Comedy or Musical' for his role in the film and ultimately won an MTV Movie Award.
