Emmett/Furla Films has reached an agreement with Hasbro to develop several of its properties for the big screen, and the property trading game is reportedly first on the list.
This is not the first time Monopoly has been optioned for the big screen. Ridley Scott was attached to adapt the title at one point, but is unlikely to be involved in the latest attempt.
Emmett/Furla Films will finance and co-produce the film, with the aim being to push it into development as early as next year, according to Deadline.
Action Man and Hungry Hungry Hippos have been tipped as the other Hasbro properties that the studio is bringing to cinemas.
Hasbro's most recent movie deal was with Universal Pictures, which adapted Battleship for the big screen, with Rihanna, Taylor Kitsch and Liam Neeson in starring roles.
