O'Toole to snub tonight's BAFTA awards
Published Sunday, Feb 11 2007, 20:37 GMT | By Matthew Houghton
Peter O'Toole will reportedly miss tonight's BAFTA awards ceremony because he will be busy promoting his new film Venus.
The British film has seen O'Toole, 74, pick up a series of Best Actor nominations from both the British and American film academies.
Instead of attending the prestigious ceremony, which will see the likes of Forest Whitaker, Judi Dench, Helen Mirren and Kate Winslet attend, O'Toole will be conducting a series of interviews in Los Angeles.
Peter O'Toole has in the past won a BAFTA award - for his portrayal of Lawrence of Arabia in 1963 - and picked up an honourary Oscar for providing cinema with some of its most memorable characters.
Venus is a film about an elderly actor who takes care of his troublesome niece, and is out in cinemas now.
