Jackson tips Mirren for Oscar glory
Published Thursday, Feb 22 2007, 10:51 GMT | By Nick Levine
Samuel L. Jackson has predicted that Dame Helen Mirren will be named Best Actress at the Oscars later this week for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen.
He is also backing Forest Whitaker to take home the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in The Last King Of Scotland.
However, the Pulp Fiction star is not as confident about which film will win the coveted Best Picture prize, telling The Cinema Source, "I mean, who knows what’s gonna win? People have liked Babel, people have liked The Departed, people have liked The Queen. Who knows?"
He added: "Little Miss Sunshine might sneak in there. It’s got great possibilities, it’s a great film."
This year's Oscar winners will be announced in a ceremony at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on Sunday.
